COVID-19 Updates at Emirates Old Trafford
Following the ‘Plan B’ measures announced by the Government on December 8 to manage the spread of COVID-19 and its newest variants, Emirates Old Trafford is outlining the upcoming changes and how they will impact upon events at the venue in the coming weeks.
The key points from the announcement for business events is as follows:
- From Friday 10 December: Face coverings are not required in hospitality venues where food and drink are consumed (such as pubs, cafés and restaurants), or during exercise (such as gyms), including dancing (such as nightclubs). However face coverings must be worn in communal areas of the premises not being used for the event, such as in a toilets and reception areas.
- From Monday 13 December: Those who can, are advised to work from home.
- From Wednesday 15 December: Subject to parliamentary approval, the NHS Covid Pass on the NHS App will become mandatory for entry into unseated indoor events with 500 or more attendees, unseated outdoor events with 4,000 or more attendees and any event with 10,000 or more attendees. Guests must be able to demonstrate proof of two vaccine doses via the app or a negative lateral flow test before entry is permitted.
In light of the above, we’d like to confirm what the latest guidance means for your upcoming Christmas event at Emirates Old Trafford.
For events in The Point and the Pavilion on December 10 and 11
Events hosted this weekend are unaffected by the Plan B announcement and there are no changes to the requirements for our guests.
For events in the Pavilion on December 17 and 18
Events hosted in the Emirates Old Trafford Pavilion next weekend will be unaffected by the new measures with no changes to the requirements for guests on the night.
For events in The Point on December 17 and 18
For all events hosted in The Point next weekend, staff at Emirates Old Trafford will be checking the vaccination status of each and every guest on the evening. We will require you to display your NHS COVID Pass digitally using the NHS App or via an NHS COVID Pass letter to be presented on arrival, or a negative Lateral Flow Test.
The wearing of face masks is at guests’ discretion for all forthcoming events and is not a mandatory requirement. For your peace of mind, all Emirates Old Trafford staff will be wearing face masks during all Christmas Party events.
We ask that ALL guests follow the latest safety requirements and advice, and do not attend the venue if told to isolate or experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, even if these symptoms are mild. We also recommend that every guest undertakes a lateral-flow test before attending their event.
As always, we will be implementing high safety standards as priority throughout. We have enhanced cleaning protocols in place, good ventilation throughout all rooms and readily available hand sanitiser and handwashing facilities.
As one of the first venues to hold events following lockdown, we’re well-versed in providing a safe but enjoyable environment for all guests, and we’re looking forward to seeing you soon for an unforgettable Christmas night.
