Hilton Garden Inn Emirates Old Trafford to re-open to the public on Monday 21 September
After it successfully hosted England’s bio-secure behind-closed-door cricket internationals, whilst operating at near-full capacity for the last three months, the Hilton Garden Inn Emirates Old Trafford is now ready to re-open its doors to the general public from Monday 21 September.
The Hilton Garden Inn was temporarily closed in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic but has since hosted international cricket teams including England, West Indies, Pakistan and Australia after Emirates Old Trafford was awarded 21 days of International behind-closed-doors cricket by the England and Wales Cricket Board.
In early June, the West Indies squad were the first international visitors into the UK, during the middle of the pandemic, arriving at Emirates Old Trafford to stay, train and quarantining on-site in the 150-bed four-star Hilton Garden Inn. The final bio-secure fixtures at Emirates Old Trafford take place this week as England take on Australia in a three-match Royal London One-Day International series. Once those fixtures are completed in a bio-secure environment, where everyone who enters the ground is tested, the hotel will then re-open to the general public.
The hotel staff have taken key learnings from hosting guests during behind closed doors cricket and are also now delivering Hilton’s ‘CleanStay’ initiative, an industry defining standard of cleanliness and disinfection to ensure that visitors feel safe while on-site in the Hilton Garden Inn. The policy includes new procedures to help guests across Hilton hotels enjoy a cleaner and safer stay, and also forms part of the Emirates Old Trafford ‘Safe in One Place’ campaign. The initiative, which was launched last month, offers guidance and best practice for the wider events industry, ahead of the opening up of the events industry on 1 October.

Hotel Manager Sophie Atalay, said: “We’ve had an incredibly busy and challenging last few months where we have effectively been operating at full capacity throughout the summer for the behind-closed-doors international fixtures, which is unlike many hotels across the country. The experience of that has been invaluable to everyone who works at Emirates Old Trafford and we’ve learnt so much about operating a hotel in a COVID-19 environment.

Customer experience is at the heart of everything we do and while guest interaction may be more limited than in the past, the safety of both our guests and staff is the number one priority.”
Social distancing measures are in place throughout the hotel, with all customer touch points reduced wherever possible. Hilton Honours Members will be able to access Hilton’s digital key which means guests can check in via the app, and therefore don’t require to check in, in the usual sense, at the main reception desk on arrival at the hotel. The hotel’s restaurant and bar, The Garden Grille, will also re-open to the public, as well Emirates Old Trafford’s on-site Caffè Nero.
