Emirates Old Trafford is delighted to announce that it the Club's Operations Team has been shortlisted for the Meetings Industry Association (Mia) Team of the Year award.
This summer, Emirates Old Trafford became one of the first venues anywhere in the world to host elite International sport when the West Indies played England behind-closed-doors, at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Working alongside the UK Government and the ECB, the club’s operations team created a comprehensive operational plan to create a bio-secure environment. The team at Emirates Old Trafford ensured 21 days of cricket were played, helping to deliver the ECB’s valuable broadcast deal to English cricket.
Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester: “We are all very proud of the team at Emirates Old Trafford for the work they have done to turn it into a safe and secure venue. As a city-region, we pride ourselves on the diverse number of major events we host and getting this industry back up and running is of huge importance, because we need to bring people back into our towns and cities to support our local economy.”
