Emirates Old Trafford shortlisted for Conference Awards

Emirates Old Trafford is delighted to announce that it has been shortlisted for Best Conference Venue - over 1100 Theatre Style category in the prestigious Conference Awards.

The shortlist follows a record year of success for the venue, which celebrated a record year with hosting prestigious conferences and events, alongside an extremely busy cricket season, with six ICC Cricket World Cup fixtures and an Ashes Test.

The Best Conference Venue – Over 1100 Theatre Style category recognises the best venues in the UK and the category is judged on the facilities, innovation and customer support that the venue can provide event organisers and delegates.

Over the last ten years Emirates Old Trafford, at the home of Lancashire Cricket, has undergone a £60 million redevelopment, including the four-star 150-bedroom Hilton Garden Inn on-site, transforming it into a world-class complete business venue.

Offering flexible, versatile and unique events space, it is a multi-purpose venue delivering a variety of events, ranging from multi-day conferences such as the TheStadiumBusiness Summit and Awards and The Ticketing Forum, Christmas parties to exhibitions, small meetings, award dinners and more.

Commenting on the nomination, Sales Director, Angela Hodson, said: “We’re delighted to have been shortlisted for the Best Conference Venue in this year’s Conference Awards.

“The last ten years have transformed Emirates Old Trafford into one of the best conference and events venues in the world and last year we had one of our most successful years to date. This nomination is not only testament to our investment of the venue, but the fantastic team we have at the Club.

“Whilst the current climate is uncertain and we’re unsure of what the future of events looks like at the moment, we’re looking forward to continuing to transform the offering and facilities that we have at Emirates Old Trafford.

“We pride ourselves on delivering innovative events with first-class customer service and I think this award really signifies that.”

The nomination follows the recent announcement that Emirates Old Trafford has been selected by the ECB as one of two host venues to stage the West Indies vs England three Test series. As part of this, there have been a number of safety protocols introduced in line with Government and international standards. These will be subject to ongoing review during this period and will be used to guide the safety of future event delivery at the venue.

The shortlists follow the recent Sports Business Awards nominations that the Club received within the categories Best Sports Event of the Year and Best Sports Club / Sports Event Hospitality in the prestigious Sports Business Awards 2020. They recognise the venue hosting the India vs Pakistan ICC Cricket World Cup fixture, the biggest match in world cricket and the investment that the Club put in to transform the hospitality offering for 2019.

The Conference Awards celebrate the successes of the venues and teams who are responsible for delivering events and are taking place on 18 November 2020. To find out more, visit the website here.
