Christmas parties are one of the most highly anticipated events in the office calendar, so it’s important that you get the right design and feel for them.
We’ve already covered the top tips to consider when you organise your party, but in this blog, we explore the finer details so you can organise a Christmas party that will really make an impact. We want you to have a simply wonderful Christmas time, so grab a cuppa and have a read of our Christmas party checklist.
Selecting your theme
Before booking your entertainment, choosing your menu and reception drinks, it’s important that you settle on a theme that your colleagues will love and that encapsulates your brand. If you’re stuck for inspiration, have a read of our blog about the top themes for this year.
When you choose your theme, choose a colour scheme that reflects your theme. You don’t want to overpower your event with too many clashing or bold colours, as it could make your party seem tacky. If you’ve settled on a carnival or circus theme for your party, combine a couple of vibrant primary colours to make your room pop or use a secondary colour and accessorise for a more luxury feel.
An impactful entrance
Ensuring that you create a reception that will really ‘wow’ your guests is hugely important, as this sets the tone for your whole Christmas party. Perhaps welcome your guests with a VIP red carpet entrance with flashing cameras to encapsulate a film premiere, or create a subtle yet effective ambience with a jazz band greeting your guests with a glass of fizz.
Why not take advantage of our Mezzanine Bar overlooking The Point to create a welcome reception that will leave a lasting memory with your guests?
Never underestimate the importance of centre pieces at your Christmas party, as they are a great way to bring your theme to life. Whether you’re on a budget or wanting to splash the cash, there’s many different centre pieces that can really enhance your event.
If you’re hosting a winter wonderland party, why not feature glistening reindeer or snow tipped flowers in a crystal vase? Or, perhaps you’ve settled on a traditional theme, so create a centre piece out of natural decorations including pine cones, ferns and pine needles.
Lighting can bring your whole party together, so making sure you have the appropriate lighting to tie in with your theme is essential. If you’re hosting a glamorous gala, think crystal chandeliers and candle lighting, or for an end of year party, get the strobe lights at the ready and create a real disco atmosphere.

Live music vs DJ
Entertainment is key if you want to create a party atmosphere and give your guests a night to remember. If you want to party into the early hours, a DJ could be the best way to go, where you can sing along to the cheesy Christmas hits and boogie the night away. Or, if you want to create more of a statement, why not hire a live band to cover the classics and blow your guests away.
