Five things to do with the family in Manchester

Summer is one of the best times of the year, but keeping the children occupied for six weeks is no mean feat. We’ve rounded up the best activities to keep you and your family entertained this summer in and around the city.

Treetop Adventure Golf

Practice your best put in the middle of the jungle at Treetop Adventure Golf at Manchester Printworks. Its opening hours have been extended over the summer holidays to give you more time to play.

There’s also free arts and crafts available all day every day and between 12pm and 4pm Thursday to Saturday there’s also free face painting and glitter tattoos – so there’s plenty to get your teeth stuck in to.

Enjoy two courses for the price of one on Monday to Friday between 10am – 4pm until 1 September. There’s no need to book – simply turn up and away you go. Prices per person are £9.50, £4.50 for under-fives, or £31.50 for a family. For more details, visit the website here.

The Science and Industry Museum is located on Liverpool Road in the city centre, and for the night-owl gamers who are playing until 9.30pm there is a separate entrance is towards the end of Liverpool Road, near Water Street.

The Farm at Tatton Park

For those who prefer the great outdoors, take a visit to The Farm at Tatton Park, nestled in the Cheshire countryside. The Farm is offering a whole host of summer activities, providing the opportunity to learn about where food has come from, meet the chicks in the hatchery and the new arrivals at the farm.

Plus, there’s chance to see the mill machines in action, milking demonstrations, buttermaking and more.

The Farm at Tatton Park is open from 12pm – 5pm every day except Monday’s (excluding Bank Holiday Monday).

Why not make a day of it and visit Tatton’s spectacular house and gardens too?

Entry to The Farm is £7 for adults, £5 for children or £19 for a family of four. National Trust members receive half price entry to the farm when presenting a valid membership card.

Beach at Intu Trafford Centre

Bringing a slice of the coast to Trafford, the Summer Hub is situated outside the Great Hall at the Trafford Centre.

Let your children’s imaginations run wild as they build sand castles fit for royalty in the beach, which is free to enter and includes deck chairs so adults can sit back, relax and soak up the sunshine. There are charges for the other activities which include bumper boats, carousel and a bungee trampoline.

And, there’s also a pop-up gin and fizz garden serving a selection of summer drinks, and should the Great British weather take a turn for the worse, take shelter under the stretched marquee.

Giant Leap Frog Art Trail

Discover the best of Stockport and explore the art trail of giant-sized frogs, which celebrates the activities happening in the town.

19 colourful frogs on their own lily pads are located around the town, including St Peter’s Square and Market Place.
