Emirates Old Trafford shortlisted for TheStadiumBusiness Awards 2018

Emirates Old Trafford is delighted to announce that it has been shortlisted in the Innovation Awards category at TheStadiumBusiness Design & Development Awards 2018 for the unique Hilton Garden Inn balconies.

The 85-pitch facing balconies, which include 12 extended terraces, provide exceptional views for major international and domestic cricket matches and concerts, with the opportunity for 46 of the rooms to convert to hospitality suites, and the other 39 rooms providing fantastic leisure-focused offerings for couples and small groups to enjoy the view of the game.

Bringing these views and facilities into the integrated conference, event and hotel market, allows Emirates Old Trafford to stand-out in a competitive market, offering an unrivalled product and experience for corporate and group event organisers and business travelers.

Emirates Old Trafford also hosted sold-out international cricket this summer with England taking on both Australia and India in one-day matches and the Hilton Garden Inn pitch facing balcony rooms offering the perfect view for guests to relax and watch the action on the pitch, additionally the first floor rooms were transformed into luxurious Executive Boxes for up to 12 people.

After opening just over 12 months ago, the on-site 150-bedroom Hilton Garden Inn is already achieving strong results and this year the hotel boasted its first “Ultimate Package” concert experience, where guests could enjoy watching the sold-out Liam Gallagher concert from the comfort of a private room and balcony.

The Club expanded further when it opened its doors to a new Caffè Nero, serving customers with a range of award-winning food and beverages. The intuitive design of the coffee house, a UK first in stadiums, enables it to serve commuters and passersby from Brian Statham Way, hotel guests directly from reception and cricket or concert goers via the stadium.

Lancashire Cricket Chief Executive, Daniel Gidney, said: “We’re delighted to have been shortlisted for the Innovation Award at the upcoming StadiumBusiness Design & Development Awards.

“We feel that the Hilton Garden Inn at Emirates Old Trafford has demonstrated genuine, industry-changing innovation with the unique packages that we offer to guests.

“2018 has been a busy year full of international and domestic cricket fixtures, conferences and events, and a high-profile concert and we pride ourselves on being one of the most adaptable, flexible and versatile venues in the country.
"Emirates Old Trafford would like to congratulate all the other nominees and we are looking forward to coming together for the awards in November.”

TheStadiumBusiness Design & Development Awards were launched to recognise leadership, innovation and achievement in the design, development, construction and refurbishment of major sports venue facilities globally.

For 2019, the innovative Hilton Garden Inn Emirates Old Trafford will come alive once more, as the venue hosts the ICC Cricket World Cup and the 4th Specsavers Ashes Test.

TheStadiumBusiness Design & Development Awards are taking place on the 13-14th November where the winners will be announced.
