Lancashire County Cricket Club and Emirates Old Trafford have increased the target for the Red Rose Floods Appeal has been extended to £20,000 after the initial aim of £10,000 was reached within seven days of the appeal being announced.
Members of the public from all over the United Kingdom have donated money which will be distributed to those who have been badly affected by the flooding which occurred in Lancashire just after Christmas.
Lancashire County Cricket Club joined forces with the Lancashire County Cricket Club Foundation and Lancashire Cricket Board to set up the Red Rose Floods Appeal with a view to raising £10,000 to help support those communities.
However, with the total online and offline now standing at over £11,000, which includes a £2,000 donation by the Club, officials have revised the target to £20,000.
Daniel Gidney, Lancashire’s Chief Executive said: “To eclipse the Red Rose Floods Appeal’s initial target of £10,000 inside a week was beyond our expectations. We are delighted by the generosity displayed by people from across the country and we have decided to double the target so that we can make an even bigger difference to those unfortunate people who have been badly affected by the flooding.
“As well as donating £2,000 to the appeal, the Club has also offered some fantastic hospitality prizes as auction items.
“I’d like to thank everybody who has donated so far.”
