Organising a Christmas party? Check out these tips from our Party Planner Emma Wallace
With Christmas only a matter of months away, three months in fact, we spoke to Emirates Old Trafford’s Special Project Manager Emma Wallace to get her advice and top tips for organising a Christmas party.
Favourite Christmas theme?
One of my favourite Christmas themes is one we’ve created ourselves for 2016 which is our ‘A Starry Night in The Point’. We’re hosting this party night in The Point and its flexibility and versatility has meant that we can host for up to 850 party goers and still have room for our entertainment, staging and dancefloor.
This year we’re keeping with a wintery Christmas feel so the room will be glistening in white, silver and ice blue with snow-capped winter trees and twinkling LED lighting creating a truly magical ambience. We work with a number of suppliers that can work with you and come up with a whole host of ideas for your party, so you can let your imagination run wild.
The food option you choose to have at your Christmas party completely depends on you and your requirements. We’ve created a selection of traditional Christmas menus with a modern twist using local produce from local suppliers for this year’s party nights, however we can also create a bespoke menu to suit your needs.
For example one of our private party bookers has decided on a ‘Grease’ themed night and we’ve tasked our Head Chef Nic Ashurst to come up with an American diner style menu. Think sliders, chilli dogs, French fries, popcorn and candy floss.
Advice for organising a Christmas party
One of my main pieces of advice is to book your Christmas party early so you can pick the best dates and September and October are prime months for booking. Our Starry Night in The Point has already sold out on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th December but we do still have other great dates available for all our packages.
Make sure you pick a memorable venue, too. The office Christmas party gives you the chance to pay back your staff for their hard work over the past year, so you want to make it an evening they won’t forget. This year, here at Emirates Old Trafford, our parties are being held in The Point and the Pavilion, two stunning venues that will wow your staff. We’re also ideally located just outside of the city centre with excellent transport links and free on-site parking which is one less factor to think about.
The best Christmas parties in my opinion are those that have the best entertainment. This year, we’re delighted to have Key 103’s DJ Darren Procter for our ‘Work’s Finished for Christmas’ party night and we’re also welcoming Under the Covers, a local Mancunian six-piece band and of course, we can’t forget our resident DJ Paul Atkinson from Ice Entertainment UK.
Another key element is the lighting for your event. Investing in lighting can completely transform a blank canvas into something amazing and spectacular and we work closely with Luminate Events who help turn an idea into reality.
Budget – what advice?
The budget of a Christmas party is clearly one of the most important aspects of organising your office do. My top tips would be to establish your budget early as this will then help shape your event in terms of what you can do theming, lighting and food wise. Also by booking early, you can take advantage of any special offers including pre-ordering any drinks promotions.
Whether you are seeking a party for you and a few friends, a party with an intimate feel for 20 of your colleagues or something on a grander scale for up to 1,000 people, our experienced events team will be on hand to guide you through every stage to banish and organisational headaches, leaving you free to focus on more important matters!
With prices starting from just £29.50 pp, Emirates Old Trafford has Christmas packages to suit all budgets.
